Do you eat cake every Christmas? Today, I
will tell you guys about Christmas sweets around the world.
In the United States, many people make
"candy houses". For this, gingerbread is used. Gingerbread is a
cookie with ginger in it. The cookies are assembled and decorated with
chocolate or cream.
Next, there is England. Christmas pudding
is one of the most famous Christmas sweets in England. This is not a pudding,
but a cake with a strong flavor of alcohol. This is made by letting it mature
for a month in advance. Flour, fat, fruit, and brandy are mixed together and
steamed.
Next, there is Germany. Stollen is a
traditional Christmas sweet. The inside is filled with dried fruits soaked in
brandy. The outside is sprinkled with powdered sugar. The cake is crispy on the
outside and moist on the inside.
Next is the French. One of the French
Christmas sweets is the bûche. The word "bûche" means tree or log. It
is made with a cake that resembles a log, mushrooms made of meringue, and sugar
powder that resembles snow. Why do you think we make a cake out of a log?
Because in France, they have a custom of putting a big firewood called Yule log
at Christmas.
Did you find a Christmas cake that you
would like to try? Let's enjoy the Japanese Christmas sweets too.
